Meeting for a Cause with Archbishop Auza
The Bohol Restoration Group Team recently met with Boholano Archbishop and Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations Bernardito “Barney” Cleopas Auza (center) and discussed a fund-raising $1,000-a-plate dinner to be held at the United Nations in November. BRG is a collaboration of the Filipino-American community to support emergency restoration aid to 300-year-old heritage churches and their communities devastated by the October 15, 2013, 7.2 earthquake and hit by typhoon Haiyan in the province of Bohol in the Philippines. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Mr. Jose Cuisia, Jr. and his wife, Mrs. Vicky Cuisia, initiated ongoing restoration aid to Bohol with the formation of BRG. BRG is carried out through the work of volunteer experts in the fields of heritage restoration and preservation, including experts from the National Cathedral; UNESCO’s International Council on Monuments and Sites; Quinn Evans; Wiss, Janey, Elstner Associates; and Leuterio Thomas LLC; to name a few among the groups involved with stakeholders on the ground in Bohol.
