BRG Celebrates Architecture Week with a Sweet Treat
WASHINGTON D.C. –The Bohol Restoration Group (BRG) celebrates Architecture Week 2015 with a sweet treat sale to support post-Haiyan disaster heritage restoration efforts in the Philippines.
BRG heralds DC volunteer architects for their patrimonial spirit in responding to the call of the Philippine embassy in a disaster restoration initiative on the behalf of Philippine Ambassador to the U.S., Mr. Jose Cuisia, Jr. and his wife, Mrs. Vicky Cuisia.
The sweet treat sale will take place from 10am – 6pm this Sunday, April 26th, 2015 at Sweet City Desserts in Vienna, Va. Sweet City Desserts has kindly volunteered to donate 20% of all proceeds from this day to BRG. Proceeds will help volunteer efforts in rebuilding and restoring historical churches and their parish communities from devastation of the 2013 7.2 earthquake and the destruction from typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. BRG is a collaboration of the Filipino-American community to support emergency restoration aid to 300-year-old heritage churches and their communities devastated by the October 15, 2013, 7.2 earthquake and hit by typhoon Haiyan in the province of Bohol in the Philippines. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Mr. Jose Cuisia, Jr. and his wife, Mrs. Vicky Cuisia, initiated ongoing restoration aid to Bohol with the formation of BRG. BRG is carried out through the work of volunteer experts in the fields of heritage restoration and preservation, including experts from the National Cathedral; UNESCO’s International Council on Monuments and Sites; Quinn Evans; Wiss, Janey, Elstner Associates; and Leuterio Thomas LLC; to name a few among the groups involved with stakeholders on the ground in Bohol.
